[Ti] Installations – the specialist team of Huddersfield electricians – has been shortlisted for a prestigious award. It was announced this week that the young company is a finalist for ‘New Business of the Year’, one of the most popular categories within the Huddersfield Examiner’s Business Awards 2014 (in association with Chadwick Lawrence).
One of only three firms shortlisted for this highly contested accolade, [Ti] Installations must now wait until November 13th to discover if the team has won. The winner will be revealed as part of a glittering black tie awards ceremony that will be held that evening at The John Smith’s Stadium, hosted by Harry Gration.
[Ti]’s submission detailed how, in January 2014, City & Guilds electricians Mark Copley and Kris Johnson joined forces to satisfy a marketplace gap. They believed domestic and commercial customers alike could benefit from using one trusted multi-disciplined contractor to fulfil their security, electrical and audio requirements, saving them the risk and hassle of sourcing different suppliers.
Over the last 10 months, the two directors have invested heavily in advanced accreditations and training schemes, and have an impressive skill-set that is attracting customers from throughout the UK. The business model is clear – deliver projects to the standards set by large national contractors, for fees traditionally charged by much smaller firms.
This is what will have attracted the judges’ attention, believes Mark. “In establishing [Ti], we’ve not ‘reinvented the wheel’. But we have found a way of improving the options previously available to clients. And we’ve worked hard to put a number of internal processes and procedures in place, to grow the business in a best practice manner.”
Kris continues: “Now, performing ahead of our projected financial targets and with a strong forward order book, we are planning to recruit and are looking forward to a very exciting 2015.
“It sounds clichéd but to be one of three businesses shortlisted for this respected award really is an achievement in itself. It reinforces to us and our clients that we have built something quite special – we are not just your ordinary team of electricians from Huddersfield. To be given the trophy on the night would of course be amazing, but the decision is out of our hands so we’ll just enjoy the experience and cross our fingers!”
